Committee for Equal Representation of Women and Men in Politics and Decision-making Positions (“Council”) was established on April 22, 2009 on the proposal of the Government Council of Equality of Women and Men (“Council”). It is an advisory body of the Council for the field of equal opportunities of women and men in politics and decision-making positions.

The Committee deals with institutional, political and social options of enforcing the equal representation of women and men in politics; therefore above all:

  • submits the Council proposals of measures directed to removing obstacles and creating conditions for equal representation of women and men in politics and decision-making positions to the Council,
  • cooperates with public administration bodies (state administration and local administration), expert public and NGOs in order to coordinate steps in the field of equal opportunities of women and men in politics,
  • debates measures for equal representation of women and men in politics and decisive-making positions,
  • follows statistical data about equal opportunities of women and men in politics and decisive-making positions,
  • processes conceptual materials, statements and recommendations to proposals of legal bills in the field of equal opportunities of women and men in politics and decisive-making positions for the Council,
  • supports education in the field of equal opportunities of women and men in politics and decisive-making positions.
