Committee for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Violence against Women ("Committee") is an advisory body of the Government Council for the Equality of Women and Men ("Council").

The Committee above all:

  • submits the Council proposals of measures directed to prevention of domestic violence and violence against women and creating a national strategy for prevention and elimination of domestic violence and violence against women to the Council,
  • cooperates with public administration bodies (state administration and local administration), expert public and NGOs in order to coordinate steps in the field of prevention of domestic violence and violence against women
  • follows statistical data about various forms of domestic violence and violence against women,
  • suggests measures in the field of prevention of domestic violence and violence against women,
  • processes conceptual materials, statements and recommendations to proposals of legal bills in the field of prevention of domestic violence and violence against women for the Council,
  • supports education of professionals who enter into contact with victims of domestic violence and violence against women.

Based on the resolution of Czech government from February 23, 2015, no. 126, the Committee fulfils a monitoring role of the Action Plan of Prevention of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence for 2015 – 2018. The Committee yearly approves the Summarizing Report on Fulfilling the Action Plan to which it takes a stand and formulates recommendations.
